I'll never forget the first time I got email for the Interweave Hurt Book Sale, many years ago. It was a dream come true. I bought a copy of Candace Crockett's book on card weaving (those early editions came with a set of cards), and I bought a second copy of Carol Strickler's
A Weaver's Book of 8-Shaft Patterns because I'd worn out my first copy. I'd never heard of a "hurt book," but if I could add to my budding weaving library on my young family's meager budget, I wasn't going to worry about a slightly worn cover. I've shopping in many Hurt Book Sales since then, even after I came to work at Interweave, but that sale was one of those "firsts" that I'll always remember. A few years ago, Steve Koenig, our then books publisher, and our founder Linda Ligon
made a video explaining what a "hurt book" is, and our video team had fun making
this little piece about adopting needy books. I thought, like Disney, it was time to "pull this one out of the vault" as we celebrate this great Interweave tradition once again.
