I am so excited about this upcoming long weekend! Not because I have any grandiose plans or big trips on the agenda, I'm excited to actually have time to both warp and weave and relax. During normal weekends I have to set one day aside for shopping, running errands, and doing laundry. That leaves me one day to warp or weave.
Why the "or?" It's because I have a rule that I'm must wait at least 6 hours between warping and weaving anything more than a header. Any time I break that rule I make silly mistakes because I'm still in my warping mindset, and I'm usually quite tired. So most weekends I have the time to set up my loom and the work in weaving an hour at a time the rest of the week OR (if I'm lucky enough to already have a warp on the loom) I can weave what I have, but can't start any new projects.
Three day weekends are different. I will do all of my shopping Friday, warp my loom Saturday, and spend all day Sunday luxuriously weaving. I cannot wait. I have some gorgeous cherry-red and bright white cottolin that are crying out to be woven into dish towels. Who am I to ignore their pleas?
If you're looking forward to a full weekend of weaving, but need a project or draft to get started, make sure to check out Interweave's GIANT Labor Day Sale. We've deeply discounted dozens of digital downloads so you can snag a copy of Winning Towelsfor 40% off, get the same day you buy it, and then weave up one of the many wonderful projects within its (digital) pages. OR you can download a copy of Madelyn van der Hoogt's video workshop Warping Your Loom and watch it that same day so your weekend warping will go extra smooth.
There's lots of great stuff on sale right now, but it won't last.
Happy Weaving!
